CHAMP Enhancement

Brief Description
In response to a reduction in funding for training in Los Angeles County, NHF received funding from the Annenberg Foundation in 2008 to support and enhance its CHAMP training project. Perpetual changes to both public and private healthcare coverage programs for low and moderate income families represents a consistent need for training on healthcare coverage to individuals who directly assist uninsured children and families. By providing comprehensive trainings, Application Assistors and community health workers will have the knowledge and tools to successfully enroll uninsured children in appropriate health coverage programs and to keep them enrolled. A number of classes are offered to new and returning assistors at Los Angeles County CHOI contracted agencies, enrollment entities, and other agencies and individuals who work directly with uninsured families in Los Angeles County.
