Clinic-Medical Center Partnership Project

Brief Description
NHF was funded by LA Care (via the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County), Catholic Healthcare West Foundation and NHF’s Board, to begin a process through which a medical center and the community clinics in its service area could create and strengthen a service network that improves access to health care. Twenty-four executive directors of clinics were interviewed to help understand the relationships that already exist, to assess the interest in creating new ones, and to collect examples of desired new relationships. Findings were summarized and presented to the clinics and medical center. As a result of this project, five partnerships between the community clinics and medical center are either planned or implemented and all 13 of the recommendations generated through NHF’s interviews with executive directors of clinics are either explored or adopted by the medical center.
